Tom Wessels: The Hidden Stories of Our Forests

Tom Wessels

On June 1 renowned ecologist and environmentalist Tom Wessels led a talk with images taken in the woods around us, sent in advance by the audience and our sponsors.  He interpreted the images on the spot.

Tom is a terrestrial ecologist and professor emeritus at Antioch University New England, where he founded the master’s degree program in Conservation Biology.  Tom has conducted workshops on ecology, natural history, and sustainability throughout the United States for over three decades.

He has authored numerous books, including some that have become classics such as “The Myth of Progress”, “Reading The Forested Landscape” and “Forest Forensics”.  His most recent is ”New England's Roadside Ecology: Explore 30 of the Region's Unique Natural Areas”.  Signed copies of these books were sold after the event.

For this event The Spark Presents gratefully received financial support from FrOGS, Dutchess Land Conservancy and Oblong Land Conservancy.
