On June 1, renowned ecologist and environmentalist Tom Wessels led a talk featuring images taken in the woods around us, which were submitted in advance by the audience and our sponsors. He provided on-the-spot interpretations of these images.
Tom Wessels, a terrestrial ecologist and professor emeritus at Antioch University New England, is the founder of the master’s degree program in Conservation Biology. With over three decades of experience, he has conducted workshops on ecology, natural history, and sustainability throughout the United States.
An accomplished author, Tom has written several influential books, including classics such as “The Myth of Progress”, “Reading The Forested Landscape”, and “Forest Forensics”. His most recent work, ”New England's Roadside Ecology: Explore 30 of the Region's Unique Natural Areas”, was also available for purchase, with signed copies sold after the event.
